Spoiler Whopper

BURGER KING

The ad that gave us 10 Mio. earned media – and our lawyer a heart attack.

Of course it didn’t. I’m talking about the heart attack here ;-) Sometimes the job of creativity is not only to tell a great story. Sometimes it’s about finding a sneaky way to advertise with one of the world’s biggest franchises without paying. First, we invited some die-hard fans and made them an evil offer.

Welcome to the dark side of technology.

For everybody else, we added a special feature to the Burger King app. As this influencer on the right (and many others) explains, you just had to read out a very long and quite comprehensive spoiler. To be legally safe, this spoiler was not hosted on our website, but was something we sourced live from Reddit. The voice recognition in our app just made sure you didn’t miss a detail.

Don’t scroll further if you haven’t seen the movie.

Here are some examples to give you a brief overview of the extent of our spoilers. They were, well, everywhere. We renamed all the menu items and included spoilers in the names; we had spoilers on the packaging, in the packaging and on straws, and even printed them (with a laser) on fries and our staff (not with a laser, though).

Advertising is a team sport.
Happy to share the full credits if you're interested.
